Trentino-Alto Adige, is a region of Northern Italy. It consists of two provinces: Trento and Bolzano-Bozen. T he region is bordered by Austria to the north, by Switzerland to the north-west and by the Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto to the west and south. The fertile valleys of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol produce wine and fruits even if its landscape is extremely mountainous, coverered by the Dolomites and the southern Alps.
Tourism is the most important source of revenue and the region is renowned for its winter skiing opportunities. A tourist mecca, the Dolomites are famous for skiing in the winter months and mountain climbing, daily excursions, climbing and Base Jumping, as well as paragliding and hang gliding in summer and late spring/early autumn. 
The main centers include: Rocca Pietore alongside the Marmolada glacier, which lies on the border of the Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto regions, the small towns of Alleghe, Falcade, Auronzo, Cortina d'Ampezzo, and the villages of Arabba, Ortisei, canazei, and San Martino di Castrozza, as well as the whole of the Fassa, Gardena and Badia Valleys.
